Got some space in your fridge? Oh it's for my nerves!!

Now excuse me. How on earth can I keep my temper while almost every time I have to take a plane I have to go through additional screening!!! Why is it that most people go straight through ordinary security check and I am one of those very few who have to be double checked? Oh, the piece of cloth I’m wearing on my head?? When are these security people going to understand that terrorists are a bit more intelligent than showing up in an airport with one, a passport that shows that they are Arabs or Muslims, and two wearing Hijab or a beard!!! Hijab or a beard should be enough evidence that we’re hiding nothing, because it’s become a habit now that any Muslim woman with hijab or any Muslim man with a beard would be suspected.

Yeah “this is done for all the passengers’ security, including me”!. Yeah, whatever! Don’t worry about MY security, thank you. And if it were threatened, be sure that the threat is not coming from ME!

I’m mad at this system, but more at terrorists or whatever we can call them! Why do I have to pay for the mistakes of others?! And since when destruction was a way to change things, except if they will change for the worse.

Anyway if anything can be confirmed now, it must be the fact that writing can help you feel better sometimes. I’m still in that airport and am not looking forward to another double check during the remaining flights I have over the coming few days. But still. It took me a colossal effort to hide my anger. Tip number one: avoid eye contact as much as you can after being double checked, because you’ll have to show that you are calm and YOU ARE NOT! Tip number two, don’t talk about it with another suspect after the screening; it will only magnify the feeling of injustice you have. Tip number three: WRITE about it if you can.

OK, boarding will start in a few seconds, so I have to go. Oh and just for the record: I’m NOT a terrorist!

Stabbed in the back

Let’s not discuss silly political calculations. I don’t want to hear about any considerations which turn human beings into real monsters.

Let’s not waste time trying to understand what’s going on in a world where right and wrong have become the hardest things to define.

All my mind thinks now is that Benazir Bhutto was a brave woman, and her assassination is the manifestation of utter cowardice.

The world where we are living is becoming ugly… extremely ugly.

May Bhutto’s soul and those of the other victims rest in peace.

Happy Sleep Day 2

As I said a few days ago (in my reply to Issam), the celebrations of the Sleep Day Festival are still going on. In my previous post, I wished YOU my friends a happy Sleep Day, but there’s a group of people to whom I would like to address my best wishes today.

Being a person who really believes in the Arabic saying «li koulli maqamin maqal », and being someone who respects hierarchy and the importance of each individual, depending on personal achievements, social positions, etc, I have decided to devote a special post for them. You will see that I was right: it wouldn’t be acceptable to send the same wishes on the same occasion for nnas l3adyin (like you and me) and nnas lwa3rin in the same package!!

So here I am extending my most respectful wishes on the occasion of the Sleep Day Festival:

To every MP who imagines that the seat through which he is supposed to represent the people is an extension of his bed, so he enjoys taking naps while serious matters are discussed and crucial decisions are taken;

To every official who forgets his original mission and focuses on making maximum profit before his term ends;

To every judge who turns a deaf ear to the calls of innocent people and only listens to the beautiful sound of pens signing cheques;

To every doctor or hospital manager who turns the lives of people into business deals, giving priority to some and dismissing some according to their financial “importance”;

And last but not least, to every political and/or military leader who plans and gives the green light for massacres, and then goes to sleep and orders that no one shall disturb his respectful sleep.

Happy Sleep Day for all of them… and may they find the peace of sleep.
